I have a long-term interest in quantum field theory and effective lagrangians and its applications in particle and gravitational physics. I have also used the concepts and techniques of effective lagrangians in nuclear (Weinberg¹s chiral lagrangian program) and condensed matter physics. I am currently investigating the role of conformal quantum mechanics in black hole thermodynamics and its connection with string theory. This work is supported by the NSF and it includes an active collaboration with my graduate student and a colleague at the University of San Francisco.
